Sweet pea found a home
Nosara, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Sweet Pea, a dog found with multiple health problems a few days earlier, you can read about it here.
Now, we are getting reports from the Operations Manager of AMOR, Jeanette Johnstone, that Sweet Pea is comfortable in her new foster home. With her expertise as a veterinarian technician, Jeanette is following up on Sweet Pea’s health. “She is settling in pretty well,” Jeanette told us in an e-mail interview, “eating, and had her first poop (laughter) and it was normal so that is good! We are keeping an eye on her urine output, because she is still dehydrated and we want to make sure her kidneys are okay. She has bilateral ear infections, the worse one is in the right ear. We started her on ear cleaning and ear drops medication (Surolan). We will recheck in 3 days to see how the medication is working. She is on antibiotics and immune/organ support supplements to help her body heal.”
Jeanette also told us that Sweet Pea is still very shy with people and trembles when someone gets near, which tells that she has been physically abused in the past. This is not uncommon on the dogs that are rescued in the area, according to her, but she is confident that Sweet Pea will recover physically and emotionally.
