How AMOR Helps Animals
AMOR members were carefully chosen to represent a range of compassion, ethics, and skillsets needed to professionally rehabilitate animals in need of rescue. With our plans in designing a rescue facility, Nosara can become a role model in animal welfare for other communities. Domestic animals will have a safe haven to go to, with trained medical staff to assist with their recovery from starvation, abuse and neglect. Our initial plans involve creating a facility for dogs, which will include a separate quarantine section for disease control and assessing new rescues. We will have both individual kennels and large enclosures for socialization, training and enrichment; teaching puppies and dogs to become amazing pets. As AMOR grows and additional land is acquired, we can expand our facility to include other domestic animal species including horses. We have designed our rescue facility based on the expertise and experience of our board members . We are presently seeking an appropriate and affordable or donated piece of property on which to build our facility . Donations to assist AMOR in achieving our goals to procure a property and to construct a rescue facility would enable us to rescue the animal population that suffers due to the current lack of any facility to provide them shelter and medical attention.
We are currently helping animals through our foster carer program, where we assist volunteers who can open up their homes and hearts to help our rescues feel safe and secure. This program is especially helpful for abandoned young who are still nursing, giving them a second chance to live a full life. AMOR supports our foster homes through regular check-ins, medical care and food/supplies needed to create the ideal environment for the rescues to heal, grow and thrive.
Help for Cats:
AMOR Animales is dedicated to helping as many animals as we can! It can be a tough life for cats here in the jungle, and AMOR is creating a program to address the issues of cat overpopulation caused by stray/feral cat colonies. A trap-neuter-release program will help with adult cats who cannot be adopted because they are too feral. Kittens and young adult cats who can be rehabilitated into being family pets will be cared for through our foster program until they can be adopted. We’ve already had success through our foster carer system to help abandoned kittens find forever homes!
If you would like to contribute to our Help for Cats program, we are currently in need of humane traps. You can either donate towards their purchase, or bring a collapsible trap down for us if you’re visiting Nosara!
