Assisted Care Program
The major obstacle previously encountered in educating locals has been poor attendance at scheduled meetings, either due to lack of interest or transportation. Unfortunately, it’s often the people who are the least interested that need education the most. Referring back to our Mission and Vision Statements of “core solutions” and “grassroots education and hands-on learning”, Amor Animales de Nosara has decided to create and maintain an Assisted Care program. With this program, we can plan visits to individual barrios (villages) to conduct animal population surveys and provide animal health education to the communities. For example, we can demonstrate how to do basic health checks, what to do in emergencies, basic dog behavior, signs of aggression, basic grooming tips, and we can teach about zoonotic diseases (diseases that can be transmitted from animals to people) to help people understand why it is important to keep their animals healthy. We will, of course, encourage castration and promote the already successful monthly castration clinics in the area.
Our aim is to create a better relationship between the communities and their animals, using fun and interactive methods involving people from every generation. With donated supplies and funds we can offer free products like flea/tick prevention, anti-parasite products and grooming supplies.
If you would like to donate any products to help our mission, please contact us to find out which supplies we need the most!
